Teaching aims:

1. To understand and read the email on Page 43.

2. To make friends by the way of writing emails and grasp the ways of writing emails.

3. To raise the Ss’ interest in learning English by reading and writing & describing.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1  Warming up & Revision

1. Greet the class.

2. Free talk.

What day is it today? What do you have on Tuesdays?

Who’s your art teacher?

What do you often do on the weekend?

What’s your favourite food/drink/day?

What can you do for the English party?

3. Review the phrases by the game Catch the helicopter.

4. Talk about how to connect with your friends.

   A. Write letters    B. Make a call

   C. Send messages    D. Send an email.

Step 2  Presentation & Practice

1. Listen to the email. Here is an email from Robin. What’s this email about? Let’s listen to the materials and have a look.

2. Read the email together. Then fill in the blanks on the paper in two minutes.

3. Listen and underline the difficulties with the red pen.

4. Talk about their difficulties and learn the new words in the email. eg. want, try, send, @, urfriend, cn

5. Read by themselves loudly and then imitate Robin’s voice.

6. Have a competition between groups, see which group imitates the best.

7. Tick or cross according to What can Robin do? Check the answer and help the Ss grasp the reading skills.

8. Write three sentences about himself/herself What can you do? Ask some Ss to read their sentences.

Step 3 Summary & Homework

1. Show the PPT and review the ways of writing diaries and letters. Today we’ll try to write an email to Robin. How to write it? Show Ss the email. Lead the Ss to understand and read the email.

2. Write an email to Robin.

  A. Set an example first.

  B. Give the Ss five minutes to write the email to Robin.

  C. Read their emails in groups.

  D. Check up individuals to read his/her email.

Step 4  Summary & Homework

1. Check the difficulties. (words and sentences)

2. Have a summary of this lesson.

3. Do homework.

  Write a short passage My friend.
